Biographical Information[edit]
Kenji Tsuchiya was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the 4th round of the 2008 NPB draft, and he was 5-7 with a 6.25 ERA in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2009. He improved to 7-5 with a 3.34 ERA in 2010, and he led the Eastern League with 78 strikeouts (tied with Katsuki Akagawa). Tsuchiya also pitched 3 games for the top team, but he surrendered 10 runs. He then mainly stayed in the minors in the next two seasons, and he only got one appearance before the Fighters traded him to the Yokohama BayStars for Atsushi Kita. Tsuchiya was 2-1 with a 6.52 ERA in 2013, and his ERA was 5.40 in 7 relief outings in 2014. He didn't reach the top team in 2015, and he announced his retirement.
