Reliever Ken Raines played professionally from 1994 to 1996, peaking at High A. He was taken in the 36th round of the 1994 amateur draft by the Atlanta Braves.

Raines began his career by going 4-2 with 7 saves and a 3.04 ERA in 25 appearances for the Idaho Falls Braves in 1994, then he went 2-1 with 14 saves and a 2.95 mark between three stops in 1995. He joined the Texas Rangers system for 1996, going 6-6 with a 2.50 ERA in 61 games between the Hudson Valley Renegades and Port Charlotte Rangers. With Hudson Valley, his 1.07 ERA was tops in the New York-Penn League among pitchers with 50 or more innings; he also paced the loop in appearances with 38.

Overall, he went 12-9 with a 2.75 ERA in 130 games. In 202 2/3 innings, he allowed 196 hits and 66 walks (1.293 WHIP), while striking out 187 batters.
