Biographical Information[edit]

Ken MacDonald played in the Australian Baseball League and for the Australian national team. He was noted for a couple of really long home run blasts. He is the father of Connor MacDonald.

He debuted with the Brisbane Bandits when the ABL was formed in 1989-1990, hitting .247/.304/.425. In 1990-1991, he fell to .202/.250/.309 but rebounded to .287/.328/.400 in 1991-1992. His batting line was .226/.294/.430 in 1992-1993.

Playing for Australia in the 1993 Intercontinental Cup, he pinch-hit for Jason Marks his first time up and struck out against Cuba's Giorge Díaz. He split DH with Stuart Thompson in the event, going 1-for-9 with a walk and a homer, driving in two; the blast was off France (either Samuel Meurant or Vincent Lhoste). His son was named to the national team 33 years later.

The Mackay native helped Brisbane to the title in 1993-1994, when he batted .258/.333/.419 with 7 homers in 40 games, driving in 28. In 1994-1995, he had a career year at .302/?/.509 with 9 homers ad 36 RBI in 51 games. He fell to .272/.309/.398 in 1995-1996 and .194/.293/.403 in 1996-1997 (four of his ten hits being homers to three singles). He ended his career with a .256 average and .420 slugging in 311 ABL games, with 100 runs, 33 homers and 161 RBI.
