Biographical Information[edit]
Keiji Fukui was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the 3rd round of the 1994 NPB draft, and he stayed in the minors in his first five seasons. He was 0-for-6 for the big club in 2000, and he went 13-for-49 in 2001. Fukui then hit .220/.292/.458 in 61 games in 2002, and he slumped to .161/.230/.232 in 2003. Fukui only got 15 at-bats in 2004, and he was released. The Hiroshima Carp picked him up, and he played 73 games with a .287/.319/.391 batting line in 2005. He was 5-for-31 in 2006, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Fukui hit .231/.281/.347 with 70 hits in 7 seasons in NPB. He spread 330 plate appearances over 268 games and went deep 8 times in 303 AB.
