Biographical Information

Kazuya Murata was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the 4th round of the 2007 NPB draft, and he went 8-for-34 in 2008 while leading the minor Eastern League with 35 steals. He played 44 games with a .291/.339/.382 batting line in 2009, then he slumped to .207/.265/.207 in 2010. Murata then recorded a .318/.318/.318 batting line in 52 games in 2011, and he went 1-for-9 in 2012. He had a 8-for-24 record in 2013, and he announced his retirement after hitting .207/.233/.241 in 2014.

Overall, Murata hit .251/.297/.281 with 58 hits in 7 seasons in NPB.
