Center fielder Kazutaka Terauchi began his NPB career in the spring of 1937 with the Eagles, hitting only .144/.303/.200. He improved in the fall season to .276/.391/.332 and led the Japan Professional Baseball League with 237 plate appearances. In '38, Terauchi batted .214/.322/.302 in the spring and .113/.227/.148 in the fall. In 1939, Kazutaka put up a .206/.319/.342 line; he was three triples behind league leader Tetsuharu Kawakami with 9 and fivee doubles behind Haruyasu Nakajima with 22. He hit .193/.296/.270 in 1940 and .189/.295/.233 in '41. For Yamato in 1942, he was a player-manager. He batted .205/.392/.308 in 18 games and led the team to a 22-53-9 record as they finished last in the JPBL. He died in combat while serving in the Japanese military during World War II.
