Biographical Information

Kazuo Usami signed with the Kokutetsu Swallows in 1950 when he was 36-years old, and he played 88 games with a .284/.317/.373 batting line as their starting catcher. He was moved to first base in 1951, and he hit .284/.310/.388 in 93 games. Usami only played 2 games in 1952, and he announced his retirement. He later coached the Swallows from 1952 to 1963 and in 1967.

Overall, Usami hit .283/.313/.379 with 168 hits and 12 homers in 3 seasons in NPB.
