Biographical Information

Kazuo Shimamoto signed with the Taiyo Robins in 1948, and he only pitched 2 games in his first three seasons. He was 0-3 with a 5.56 ERA in 1951, and he improved to 9-15 with a 3.68 ERA and 15 complete games in 1952. Shimamoto was 8th in the Central League in complete games (tied with Ryohei Hasegawa) and 7th in losses (tied with Hiroshi Katayama). However, he only got 2 appearances in 1953, and he announced his retirement in 1954.

Overall, Shimamoto was 9-19 with a 4.19 ERA, struck out 83 and pitched 274 1/3 innings in 5 seasons in NPB.
