Biographical Information

Kazuo Ishigaki played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.

Ishigaki signed with the Osaka Tigers in 1953, and he hit .273/.360/.288 in his first season. He played 77 games with a .239/.260/.303 batting line in 1954, and he went 23-for-83 in 1955. Ishigaki won the competition for the starting catcher spot with Shigeru Tokuami in 1956, and he recorded a .206/.236/.319 batting line in 103 games. However, Tetsuya Yamamoto then took his spot, and he batted .230/.274/.315 in 72 games in 1957. Ishigaki slumped to .116/.156/.163 in 1958, and he went to the Nankai Hawks. He was 6-for-38 in 1959, and he announced his retirement after having a 5-for-36 record in 1960. He later became a member of the House of Councillors.

Overall, Ishigaki hit .219/.258/.298 with 180 hits and 7 homers in 8 seasons in NPB.
