Biographical Information

Kazunao Yamamoto was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the 3rd round of the development phase in the 2008 NPB draft, and he stayed in the minors in his first four seasons. The Giants traded him with Shun Tono to the Orix Buffaloes for Toru Anan and Ryota Katsuki, and he hit .226/.273/.333 in 96 games in 2013; not a starter, he totaled 176 plate appearances in a utility role. However, he slumped to .083/.200/.083 in 2014, and he announced his retirement after he went 0-for-8 in 2015. Yamamoto later coached Osaka University of Economics from 2016 to 2022.

Overall, Yamamoto hit .207/.256/.302 with 37 hits in 3 seasons in NPB.
