Biographical information[edit]
Kazuharu Murakami was an infielder and coach in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Murakami hit .192/.305/.226 in 84 games for the Nankai club in 1941, and he went 7-for-22 in 1942. He then enlisted into the military and missed the next six seasons. Murakami returned in 1949 with a 5-for-13 record, then he batted .250/.276/.464 in 45 games in 1950. He went 6-for-41 in 1951, and he crushed a pinch-hit, 2-run home run against Hideo Fujimoto in the 9th inning of the 1951 Nippon Series Game 5. The Yomiuri Giants still beat the Nankai Hawks in 5 games. Murakami was 2-for-19 in 1952, and he only got 25 more at-bats before he announced his retirement in 1954. He coached the Hawks from 1956 to 1958.
Overall, Murakami hit .206/.297/.265 with 102 hits in 9 seasons in NPB.
