Biographical Information

Kay-Lan Nicasia has played in the minors and for the Curaçao national team.

The Milwaukee Brewers took him in the 16th round of the 2021 amateur draft; the scout was Lazaro Llanes. He signed for a $125,000 bonus. He hit .190/.320/.190 for the AZL Brewers Gold, mostly backing up at short. The next season, he hit .232/.341/.435 for the same team, with 30 RBI in 43 games, while playing 1B, 2B, 3B, RF and CF. He tied for 7th in the Arizona Complex League in RBI. He hit .214/.368/.357 with 5 runs in 4 games in the 2022 Caribbean Baseball Cup, finishing 7th in assists (10). Curaçao won a spot in the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, their first time qualifying for a Central American and Caribbean Games since breaking off from the Netherlands Antilles.

Nicasia slipped to .216/.327/.352 for the 2023 Carolina Mudcats, mainly playing right field. He stole 27 bases in 34 tries. He hit .227/.313/.433 and was 10-for-11 in steals for the 2024 Mudcats, missing most of the season with injury. He split 2025 between Carolina (2 for 12, 2B, HR, 2 BB) and the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (.156/.307/.303 in 75 G). Starting in center for Curaçao in the 2025 Bolivarian Games, he hit cleanup in their opener, grounding out against Héctor Martínez his first time up. He finished the Games 1-for-14 but with 6 walks, a steal, two runs and a RBI while handling 15 putouts error-free. His lone hit was a double off Carlos Diaz of champion Colombia. He tied Dayan Frías for second in the Games in walks, one shy of teammate Jayden Felicia.
