Biographical Information

Katsuya Soma signed with the Seibu Lions in 1981, and he hit .147/.261/.160 in 46 games for the San Jose Bees in 1983. He played 77 games with a .219/.309/.245 batting line for them in 1985 (he was their main backstop), and he appeared in 27 games as a reconnaissance player in 1986. Soma was 1-for-15 in 1992 after staying in the minors for five seasons, and he announced his retirement in 1993. He later became the battery coach for the Lions from 2008 to 2010.
