Biographical Information[edit]
Katsuhiro Nishikawa signed with the Hiroshima Carp in 1964, and he went 3-4 with a 3.35 ERA in his first season. He only pitched 9 games with a 6.55 ERA in 1965, and his ERA was 5.70 in 23 relief outings in 1966. Nishikawa recorded a 4.34 ERA in 32 appearances in 1967, and he went 1-3 with a 6.86 ERA in 1968. He allowed 14 runs in 8 2/3 innings in 1969, and he bounced back in 1980 as his ERA was 0.75 in 8 games. Nishikawa pitched 24 games with a 4.13 ERA in 1971, and the Carp traded him to the Nankai Hawks for cash after he had a 3.71 ERA in 30 relief outings in 1972. Nishikawa was 1-1 with a 4.38 ERA in 1973, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Nishikawa was 6-14 with a 4.31 ERA, struck out 214 and pitched 374 1/3 innings in 10 seasons in NPB.
