Biographical Information[edit]
Taketo Kamei was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the 5th round of the 1986 NPB draft, and he was 10-14 with a 2.42 ERA for the San Jose Bees in 1987, going 1 for 2 at the plate. The rest of the team was 23-95. He was third in the California League in ERA (behind Dave Snell and Jeff Peterek), led in complete games (3), tied Steve McCatty for the loss lead and was second with 187 K (11 behind Park Pittman). He joined Mike Pitz, Tim Burcham and Mike Mills as the Cal League All-Star pitchers and won Pitcher of the Year. He pitched 2 games with a 11.57 ERA for the Lions in 1988, and he didn't return to the big club again before announced his retirement in 1993.
