Biographical Information[edit]

Jumpei Ono was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the 5th round of the 2009 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first season. He went 1-1 with a 2.12 ERA for the Melbourne Aces in the 2010-2011 ABL, and he was 2-2 with a 3.75 ERA for the Giants in 2011. Ono recorded a 3.53 ERA in 7 starts for the Gigantes de Carolina in the winter, but his ERA was 5.73 in 9 relief outings in 2012. The Giants then traded him to the Hiroshima Carp for Takahiro Aoki, and he 4.60 ERA in 19 games in 2013. Ono pitched 22 games with a 3.86 ERA in 2014, but he only got 6 more appearances before he announced his retirement in 2017.

Overall, Ono was 4-5 with a 4.33 ERA, struck out 74 and pitched 135 innings in 5 seasons in NPB.
