Biographical Information

Juan Cwu came to the US for college, going 1-0 with a 8.59 ERA as a freshman at John Wood Community College. He improved to 1-2 with 5 saves and a 3.00 ERA as a sophomore. He then suited up for his native Honduras in the 2023 Pan American Games Qualifier. He got into two games. Debuting against Argentina, he relieved Denis Díaz in the 6th with a 4-2 deficit, a man on second, one on and no outs. He went 1-2-3 against Pedro Figueras, Sebastián García and Nicolás Alvarado, closing with a strikeout, to end the game (WBSC rules called for contests to be 7 innings and Argentina did not need to bat again). He also fared well against tournament champion Panama. Replacing José Núñez in the 7th with a 4-0 deficit, he allowed a single to Erasmo Caballero and walked Jhonny Santos then got Carlos Sánchez to hit into a double play and Jorge Bishop on a grounder.
