Biographical Information[edit]
Joseph B. Jones was the team president of the Brooklyn Excelsiors and had also served as the president of the National Association of Base Ball Players. He was a known feminist and supported the founding of the Peterboro Women's Base Ball Club in 1868, a project which the famous Elizabeth Cady Stanton supposedly helped with. Outside of baseball, Jones was a somewhat well-known boxer and gymnist.
