There is a baseball card showing him with the Grasshoppers again, while other sources indicate Ceballos coached the Jupiter Hammerheads that year. In 2017, the Marlins promoted Ceballos to defensive coach of the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp where he remained through 2019.
