Biographical Information[edit]

The son of Jerry DaVanon, who played eight major league seasons, Jeff DaVanon also played eight years in the big leagues through 2007. When not in the majors, he was in the minors from 1995-2008.

Jeff primarily played right field and center field in the majors, mostly for the Anaheim Angels. In his best year, 2003, he hit .282 with 12 home runs in 330 at-bats. Despite not being a major power threat, as of 2025 DaVanon is one of only 4 players ever with 3 straight multi-HR games, joining Lee May in 1969, Frank Thomas (the original) in 1962, and Gus Zernial in 1951.

DaVanon grew up playing ball as a youth with Jose Cruz, Jr., and was at San Diego State University at the same time as Jim Rushford.
