Biographical Information[edit]

Janice O'Hara played for seven years in the AAGPBL, all for the Kenosha Comets. She was with the team from its creation in 1943. That year, she was 1-0 with a 3.21 and hit .187/~.240/.226 with a career-high 63 hits, 5 triples, 46 runs and 28 RBI. She was the club's starting first basewoman. In 1944, O'Hara fell to .153/~.225/.171 in 95 games and stole 37 bases, the most she would pilfer. She was used in a utility role that season, playing 36 games in the outfield, 35 at first, 14 at third base and 10 at second.

In 1945, Janice batted .150/~.219/.154, used primarily in the outfield alongside Audrey Wagner and Shirley Jameson. The next year, O'Hara hit .149/~.188/.161, playing mostly outfield and some first base. She put up a .173/~.381/.255 line in 1947 and drew 37 walks, her most, while striking out 43 times in110 AB, exhibiting a patient approach at the plate. She was the backup first basewoman that year. She also was pitching again, going 6-8 with a 3.51 ERA in 21 games. Her career batting line to that point was .163/~.233/.189 in 397 games.

O'Hara was no longer taking the field regularly by 1948, going 4-6 with a 3.20 ERA on the mound. She was 2-3 with a 4.65 ERA the next year to conclude her career with a 13-17, 3.56 record on the mound, walking 140 in 296 innings.
