Biographical Information[edit]

Jan Hijzelendoorn pitched in the Hoofdklasse and for the Dutch national team.

He was with OVVO, the Amstel Tijgers and Haarlem Nicols from 1975-1988, throwing a perfect game against the Tex Town Tigers in 1977. [1] He debuted for the national team in the 1978 Amateur World Series, going 0-1 with a 7.27 ERA. [2] He won the 1979 European Championship with the Netherlands and got Silver in the 1981 European Championship. [3] He was with the Netherlands for the 1983 Intercontinental Cup. [4]

In the 1983 European Championship, he and Haitze de Vries threw a no-hitter against Spain, the second no-hitter for the Netherlands in a European Championship; his country won Silver. [5] He pitched for the Dutch team in the 1984 Amateur World Series [6], won Gold in the 1985 European Championship [7] and was in the 1986 Amateur World Series. [8]
