Biographical Information

James (Jim) Fort pitched for Niagara University in 2010-2013 and graduated with a business degree. He continued at Niagara to earn a masters in Business Administration in 2014.

Since his playing career ended, Fort remained active in baseball in various roles. While attending graduate school, Fort served as a volunteer assistant coach during the 2014 Purple Eagles season. Fort opened his own baseball/softball training facility in the fall of 2016 which he named WNY Strike Zone. He remained the owner and operator of WNY Strike Zone until a gas leak led to a fire in April 2024 that destroyed the facility.[1] Fort also worked with Gold Gloves Baseball Camps for at least five years. As of 2022, he was the Assistant Director for Special Projects.[2]

The Los Angeles Angels hired Fort as a 2020 pitching coach for the Orem Owlz before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19.
