Biographical Information[edit]

Isao Ohashi played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Ohashi hit .278 with 2 homers and 2 Best Nine awards in his college career. He signed with the Yomiuri Giants in 1963, and he was 1-for-19 in his first season. Since the Giants already had star catcher Masaaki Mori, Ohashi didn't get many chances. He was 7-for-38 in 1964, and he went 5-for-29 in 1965. Ohashi then hit .267/.290/.300 in 1966, and he played 60 games with a .274/.315/.350 batting line in 1967. However, he struggled in 1968 as he was 2-for-20, and the Giants traded him to the Taiyo Whales for Takeshi Kuwata. Ohashi hit .221/.286/.312 in 44 games in 1969, and he replaced Isao Ito to become Taiyo's starting catcher in 1970. He played 93 games with a .213/.250/.287 batting line that season, and he recorded a .169/.197/.197 batting line in 1971. Ohashi went 12-for-72 in 1972, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Ohashi hit .206/.245/.268 with 168 hits and 8 homers in 10 seasons in NPB.
