Biographical Information[edit]
Hyogo Yamamoto was 18-6 with a 1.59 ERA in his college career, and he won the MVP and Best Nine award in each of two seasons in 1960 (Japanese colleges use a two-season format). He signed with the Hiroshima Carp in 1961, and he had a 4.80 ERA in 17 appearances in his first season. Yamamoto only pitched 7 more games for the big club, and he announced his retirement in 1963. He passed away in 1999 due to a car crash.
