Hong Kong, a major port city located on the Pearl River on China's southeastern coast, was administered by Great Britain from 1842 to 1997, when it returned to Chinese control as a special administrative region. Not an international power, Hong Kong's first foray into the major international scene was in the Women's Baseball World Cup in the early 21st Century. Hong Kong has played in the B Pool of the Asian Championship.
