Biographical Information[edit]
Hitoshi Fujie pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.
Fujie was drafted by the Yokohama BayStars in the 2nd round of the 2008 NPB draft, and he had a 6.51 ERA in 9 appearances in 2009. His ERA was 7.52 in 15 games in 2010, and he broke out in 2011. He collected 15 holds that season, and his ERA was 1.58 in 47 relief outings. Fujie then notched 21 holds with a 3.26 ERA in 52 games in 2012, and he was 6th in holds (tied with Daiki Enokida and Jorge Sosa).
His ERA was 1.27 in 25 appearances with 7 holds in 2013, but he slumped to a 4.70 ERA in 16 games in 2014. The BayStars released him, and he signed with the Rakuten Golden Eagles. However, Fujie only pitched 2 games in 2015, and he was released again. He signed with the Lancaster Barnstormers in 2016, and his ERA was 4.50 in 22 games. He announced his retirement after that season, and he coached the Sakai Shrikes from 2019 to 2021.
Overall, Fujie was 12-14 with a 4.17 ERA, collected 45 holds and 1 saves in 166 appearances, struck out 178 and pitched 222 1/3 innings in 6 seasons in NPB.
