Biographical Information[edit]

Hiroyuki Nagamura was drafted by the Hankyu Braves in the 2nd round of the 1980 NPB draft, and he stayed in the minors in his first three seasons. He hit .257/.350/.286 in 31 games in 1984, and he was 0-for-4 in the 1984 Nippon Series; the Braves lost to the Hiroshima Carp in 7 games. Nagamura played 60 games with a .209/.283/.291 batting line as the backup catcher behind Hiromasa Fujita in 1985, and he had a 5-for-30 record in 1986. He had a 2-for-16 record in 1987, and he announced his retirement in 1988. Nagamura later became the battery coach of the Orix BlueWave from 1995 to 1998, and he was the general manager of Orix from 2016 to 2019.
