Biographical Information[edit]

Hiroshi Tsujii played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.

Tsujii signed with the Taiyo Robins in 1946, and he hit .268/.358/.349 in 72 games in his first season. He collected 22 steals with a .231/.312/.321 batting line in 1947, and he was 8th in doubles (tied with Yasuya Hondo and Noboru Aota) and 7th in steals (tied with Aota) in the Japan Professional Baseball League. Tsujii improved to .298/.353/.379 in 1948, and he ranked 4th in batting (between Kazuto Tsuruoka and Tetsuharu Kawakami). He then crushed 5 homers with a .257/.306/.343 batting line in 1949, and he jumped to the Hiroshima Carp when the JPBL split into two leagues in 1950.

The Kyoto native collected 25 doubles with a .294/.370/.388 batting line in his first year with the new team, and he played 94 games with a .257/.325/.343 batting line in 1951. He then went to the Kokutetsu Swallows, and he slumped to .228/.315/.347 in 1952. Tsujii batted .264/.319/.315 in 106 games in 1953, then he recorded a .220/.261/.265 batting line in 1954 and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Tsujii hit .262/.330/.346 with 837 hits and 29 homers in 9 seasons in NPB.
