Biographical Information[edit]
Hiroshi Harada was a pitcher who played for Sumitomo Metal Kajima in the Industrial League after high school. He represented Japan in the 1999 Intercontinental Cup. He was 0-3 with a 5.56 ERA, taking all three of the losses for the Bronze Medalists. Relieving Taiyo Fujita in the 9th inning of a scoreless duel with Team USA, he gave up 6 hits and 4 runs (including a 3-run homer to Dan Held) in a loss to Chuck Bauer. He started and did well (3 R, 2 ER in 7 1/3 IP) in a loss to Carlos Yánes and Silver Medal-winning Cuba. In the semifinals, he allowed one run in three but lost to Shayne Bennett of champion Australia when his team failed to score.
