Biographical Information[edit]

Hiroki Kondoh was drafted by the Rakuten Golden Eagles in the first round of the 2017 NPB draft after they lost the lottery for the rights to Kotaro Kiyomiya and Munetaka Murakami; the scout was Katsumi Yamashita. He was 0-3 with a 6.83 ERA in 2018, and he pitched 2 games with a 8.68 ERA in 2019. Kondoh's ERA was 5.40 in 6 games in 2020, and the Golden Eagles released him. The Yakult Swallows picked him up, and Kondoh had an elite 0.96 ERA in 21 games in 2021. However, Kondoh suffered from a right shoulder injury, and he didn't pitch another game for the big club before he announced his retirement in 2024.
