Biographical Information[edit]
Hikaru Ohta has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Ohta was drafted by the Rakuten Golden Eagles in the 2nd round of the 2018 NPB draft, and he shared the starting catcher spot with Kengo Horiuchi when Motohiro Shima was injured in his first season. He played 55 games with a .219/.279/.271 batting line that season, and he hit .200/.301/.323 in 2020 while leading the Pacific League with a .333 CS%. Ohta was Rakuten's starting catcher in 2021, and his batting line was .188/.260/.254 with 4 homers. While his caught stealing rate improved to 37.9, he did not lead the PL that time. He only played 71 games with a .214/.325/.303 batting line due to left shoulder injury in 2022, and his batting line was .243/.356/.329 with a league-leading 28 sacrifice bunts. Ota collected 3 triples with a .196/.244/.291 batting line in 2024.
