Hidenori Kanemitsu played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 11 years.
Kanemitsu signed with the Taiyo Whales in 1959, and he hit .206/.226/.300 in 71 games in his first season. He crushed 5 homers with a .256/.276/.406 batting line in 1960, and he was 6-for-15 in the 1960 Nippon Series, with a homer against Katsumi Nakanishi in Game 1. The Whales beat the Daimai Orions in 4 games. Kanemitsu played 121 games with a .282/.316/.401 batting line in 1961, but he slumped to .208/.238/.299 in 1962 and Yukio Osada took his starting spot in the outfield. He went 13-for-68 in 1963 and 11-for-45 in 1964, then he improved .295/.349/.526 in 96 games in 1965. Kanemitsu then recorded a .281/.343/.367 batting line in 1966, but he struggled in 1967 as his batting line was .154/.214/.218. He recorded a .213/.327/.426 batting line in 1968, and he announced his retirement in 1969. Kanemitsu later became the batting coach for the Whales in 1970 and 1972 and for their minors team in 1971 and from 1973 to 1974.
Overall, Kanemitsu hit .250/.291/.371 with 325 hits and 27 homers in 11 seasons in NPB.
