Biographical Information

Hidemi Kato was drafted by the Taiyo Whales in the 2nd round of the 1978 NPB draft, and he recorded a 7.20 ERA in 10 games in 1979. His ERA was 3.33 in 24 appearances in 1980, then he pitched 32 games with a 3.79 ERA in 1981. Kato slumped to a 8.25 ERA in 10 games in 1982, and he announced his retirement.
