Biographical Information[edit]
Hideki Igarashi played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.
Igarashi was drafted by the Yokohama BayStars in the 3rd round of the 1992 NPB draft, and he had a 4.91 ERA in 27 appearances in 1993. He went 3-3 with a 3.89 ERA in 1994, and he was 6-8 with a 4.77 ERA in 1995. Igarashi was removed from the rotation in 1996, and his ERA was 3.38 with a 9-6 record in 46 appearances. He recorded a 3.48 ERA in 37 appearances in 1997, and he went 5-2 with a 2.61 ERA in 40 relief outings in 1998. Igarashi allowed two home runs to Ken Suzuki and Rudy Pemberton in an inning in the 1998 Nippon Series Game 5, and the BayStars beat the Seibu Lions in 6 games. He struggled in 1999 as his ERA was 5.40 in 24 games, and he announced his retirement in 2000 after he had a 8.31 ERA in 5 games.
Overall, Igarashi was 31-28 with a 4.13 ERA, struck out 302 and pitched 431 innings in 8 seasons in NPB.
