Biographical Information[edit]
Hidekazu Yamamoto signed with the Nankai Hawks in 1960, and he played 43 games with a .211/.211/.316 batting line in his first season. He was 1-for-9 in 1961, and he went 2-for-9 in 1962. Yamamoto then jumped to the Nishitetsu Lions, and he was 4-for-35 in 1963. He struggled again in 1964 as his batting line was .083/.120/.083, and he played a career-high 83 games with a .199/.226/.262 batting line in 1965 as the backup shortstop behind Tony Roig. Yamamoto had a 9-for-39 record in 1966, and he went 5-for-34 in 1967. He only got 8 at-bats in 1968, and he announced his retirement. He then became a ceramist.
Overall, Yamamoto hit .183/.211/.228 with 65 hits in 9 seasons in NPB; he had 374 plate appearances in his 380 games.
