Biographical Information[edit]
Hideharu Takani was drafted by the Yakult Swallows in the 4th round of the 1980 NPB draft, and he only got 5 at-bats combined in his first four seasons. He was 8-for-35 in 1985, and he hit .284/.327/.381 in 96 games in 1986; he had 215 plate appearances as his team's #5 outfielder. Takani only got 38 more at-bats for the top team, and he announced his retirement in 1991. He also won the batting title of the Eastern League in 1989.
