Biographical Information

Haruto Sakai has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Sakai was drafted by the Rakuten Golden Eagles in the 2nd round of the 2023 NPB draft; the scout was Yuichi Adachi. He was 3-1 with a 6.49 ERA in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2024, and he pitched one shutout innings for the big club. Sakai then went 1-5 with a 6.06 ERA in 2025 in the minors, and he completed 5 innings with one run allowed for the top team.

Sakai's repertoire includes a fastball (peak 92.6 mph), curveball, cutter, changeup, forkball and slider.
