Biographical Information[edit]

Hansel Marcelino played in the minor leagues and in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Marcelino began his professional career with the St. Louis Cardinals, and he had a 3.00 ERA in 3 games for the DSL Cardinals Blue and a 6.00 ERA in 7 games for the DSL Cardinals Red in 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic shut down the minors in 2020, and Marcelino became a free agent. He signed with the Yokohama BayStars in 2021, and he was assigned to the independent Kanagawa Future Dreams. He only pitched one game there in 2022, and he had a 2.16 ERA in 8 appearances in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2023. Marcelino's ERA was 4.32 in 9 games in the minors in 2024, and he made his NPB debut on June 20, 2025. However, he plunked Neftali Soto on his head in the 9th inning, and he was ejected. Marcelino was the first foreign player to be ejected in his first game in NPB history.
