Biographical Information

Hajime Shirakawa signed with the Mainichi Orions in 1950, and he only got 3 at-bats in his first season. The backup outfielder hit .230/.288/.243 in 81 plate appearances over 51 games in 1951, and he had a solid .346/.404/.423 batting line in 57 plate appearances over 57 games in 1952. However, Shirakawa failed to return to the big club in 1953, and he announced his retirement. He coached the Orions from 1955 to 1957.
