Biographical Information[edit]

Guillaume Gisbert pitched in French Division I and for the French national team.

French statistics prior to 1998 are unavailable online (as of 9/5/2025); it is possible he debuted before 1998. He was 3-2 with a 3.72 ERA for the '98 Savigny Lions and fell to 1-3, 8.13 in 1999 but Savigny won the title both years. [1] He was still picked for France's team for the 1999 European Championship. He made one appearance, closing out Boris Rothermundt's win over Sweden with two shutout innings. France won Bronze, their first medal in a European Championship. [2]

In 2000, he went 5-4 with a save and a 5.12 ERA, then 2-2 with a 3.77 ERA when Savigny won in 2001. [3] During the 2001 European Championship, his 10.80 ERA was France's second-highest after Laurent Cazanobes. [4] He was a LOOGY in the 2001 Baseball World Cup, totaling one inning in three appearances; he was charged with a hit, a walk and two runs. He tied Rémi Lejeune for second on the team in outings, two behind Anthony Piquet. [5]

Gisbert was 6-3 with a 2.41 ERA for the 2002 Lions when they won their 4th title of his career; he was their ace hurler that year. [6] He was 2-1 with a 1.80 ERA in 2003. [7] He allowed one run in 1 1/3 IP over two games in the 2003 European Championship. [8] Savigny won their fifth pennant in 2004; he pitched six shutout innings that year as Lejeune and Florian Peyrichou were the top starters. [9] He did not play in 2005, was 3-4 with a 3.18 ERA in 2006 and 5-1 with a 1.07 ERA in 2007. He led a strong staff in ERA, beating out Guillaume Coste and Pierrick Lemestre. [10]

From 2008-2010, he was with the Panthères de Pessac in the French minors, going 20-5 with a 1.69 ERA. They returned to Division I in 2011 and he had a 3-4, 6.43 record there. He closed out his career in 2012 back in the minors. [11]
