Biographical Information[edit]

Guadelupe Jabalera played in the minors then coached and managed in the minors.

Jabalera hit .175/.279/.186 in 34 games for the 1982 GCL Astros, as their main second baseman. Returning to the same club in '83, the Dominican infielder nearly led the Gulf Coast League's second basemen in fielding percentage (.961, .002 off the pace) but batted only .176/.284/.206.

The San Pedro de Macoris native began coaching in the Seattle Mariners chain in 1991. From 1998-2000, he was hitting coach of the DSL Red Sox, then was 28-42 as their manager in 2001. He was hitting coach of the 2002 Augusta Greenjackets, his first time coaching in the U.S. He was the 2nd of three managers for the Cafeteros de Cordoba of the Mexican League in 2003.

In 2004-2005, Guadelupe guided the DSL Mets to records of 34-37 and 27-45. He was hitting coach of the Brooklyn Cyclones from 2006-2008 and of the St. Lucie Mets in 2009. He was hitting coach of the DSL Indians in 2010 and DSL Braves in 2016-2017. Jabalera was an assistant hitting coach for the Toros de Tijuana in 2018 until his dismissal on August 6th. He rejoined the Mariners organization in 2020 before the minor league shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. From 2021-2025 he was a bench coach for the DSL Mariners.

Jabalera spent many years coaching in the Dominican League, mostly with the Tigres del Licey. He also coached for the Estrellas Orientales and Águilas Cibaeñas. Jabalera won five championships with Licey and one with Aguilas. Three of those teams went on to win Caribbean Series Championships.[1]
