Biographical Information[edit]
Gregorio Luque was elected into the Salon de la Fama in 1999. He was a top catcher in the Mexican League for 17 seasons, from 1963 to 1977, with some token appearances in 1980, playing over 1,500 games. Before that, he had played two years in the Mexican Center League and also played 15 seasons in the Mexican Pacific League. He later became a manager for another long period, 19 seasons, his first few seasons coming as a player/manager with the Saraperos de Saltillo. His 1,153 wins as a manager place him fourth overall in Mexican League annals.
His uniform number, 12, was retired by the Saraperos.
