Biographical Information[edit]
Goro Tomishima signed with the Nankai Hawks club in 1956, and he went 4-2 with a 2.09 ERA in his first season. He only pitched 2 games combined in the next two seasons, and he recorded a 4.18 ERA in 14 games in 1959. Tomishima pitched 15 games with a 4.50 ERA in 1960, and he won the ERA title of the Western League. He then improved to 4-0 with a 2.67 ERA in 1961, and he had a 3.08 ERA in a career-high 40 appearances in 1962. Tomishima's ERA was 4.09 in 32 relief outings in 1963, but he only pitched 1/3 of an inning in 1964 and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Tomishima was 9-9 with a 3.31 ERA, struck out 109 and pitched 223 1/3 innings in 8 seasons in NPB.
