Biographical Information[edit]
Gaspar Legón pitched in the Cuban Serie Nacional from 1964-1979. In 1969-1970, with the Azucareros, his 16 games started tied Emilio Salgado for the league lead. He was 3-0 with a 0.43 ERA when the Cuban national team won the 1970 Amateur World Series, tying four others for the win lead and finishing 5th in ERA (between Rich Troedson and Óscar Romero). He was 8-1 for the Ganaderos in 1976-1977, tying for the win lead and pacing Cuba with four shutouts. His 105 IP for Camagüey the next season led the circuit. He had a 7.71 ERA for Cuba when they won Gold in the 1978 Central American and Caribbean Games. In 1978-1979, he led Cuba in victories the second time, this time with 12. He had gone 141-101 with a 2.29 ERA in his domestic career.
