Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Gabriel González was signed by the Seattle Mariners as an international amateur free agent on February 5, 2021. He played in their system from 2021 to 2023, reaching High-A the third year. On January 29, 2024, he was traded to the Minnesota Twins as one of four players given up to obtain IF Jorge Polanco. He had been named a mariners organizational All-Star by MiLB.com after both the 2022 and 2023 season, so he was very much a prospect by that time.

In his first season in the Twins system in 2024, Gabriel played 76 games for the Cedar Rapids Kernels of the Midwest League and another 5 with the FCL Twins on a rehabilitation assignment. In Cedar Rapids, he hit .255 with 4 homers and 35 RBIs. He started 2025 with the same team, but received two promotions during the course of the season, first to the AA Wichita Wind Surge after 34 games, and then on August 1st to the St. Paul Saints of the AAA International League. In 123 games overall, his slash line was .329/.395/..513 with 38 doubles, 3 triples, 15 homers and 66 RBIs. He finished sixth in all of Minor League Baseball in hits (159) and second in doubles in what was very much a breakout season.

He started the 2026 season with St. Paul and while he was hitting just .216 after 44 games, he had hit 8 homers and driven in 21 runs when he was called up to Minnesota on May 22nd as a result of IF Tristan Gray being placed on the paternity list. He made his debut that same day starting in left field against the Boston Red Sox and batting fifth. He went 1 for 2 with a pair of walks and a run scored before giving way to pinch-hitter Trevor Larnach in the 9th. His first hit was an infield single off Justin Slaten in the 7th inning in the Twins' 8-6 win.
