Biographical Information[edit]

Fumihiko Fukao signed with the Nankai club in 1940, and he debuted on April 6 against the Hankyu club. However, Fukao allowed 17 runs in 3 innings, and he set the Japan Professional Baseball League for most runs allowed in a game (the NPB record is Makizo Ito's 18 runs in 1950). That was Fukao's only appearance as a pitcher in his career, and he was 3-for-34 as a batter that season. He only got 2 at-bats in 1941, and he announced his retirement.
