Biographical Information

Catcher Frank Kolarek played in the Oakland Athletics system from 1976 to 1979. Though he peaked briefly at Triple-A (22 games), he never ascended to the majors. His four season averages were, respectively, .192, .185, .206 and .167. He reached Triple-A for the first and only time in 1979, hitting .250/.325/.324 in 22 games for the Ogden A's.

Overall, Kolarek hit .189/.282/.258 with 8 home runs and 78 RBI in 261 games. He never attempted to steal a single base. He later served as a scout for the Milwaukee Brewers.

He went on to found League of Dreams, which provides sporting and learning opportunities for people with special needs. He has also served as Director of Baseball and Softball for Special Olympics International.

His son, Adam Kolarek, reached the majors in 2017.
