Biographical Information[edit]

Francisco Cordova primarily wore a very high uniform number, 67. On July 12, 1997, pitching for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cordova pitched 9 hitless and scoreless innings in a game against the Houston Astros. However, the Pirates failed to score and he was removed from the game. Ricardo Rincon then pitched a hitless 10th inning and pinch-hitter Mark Smith ended the game with a three-run homer off John Hudek with two outs in the bottom of the 10th. It marks the only time in major league history when two pitchers have combined on a no-hitter that went into extra innings. He played for Mexico when they won Bronze in the 2003 Pan American Games.
