Fernando Meroño

Biographical Information

Fernando Meroño made the Spanish national team for the 1965 European Championship when he was only 17 years old. He was named the best pitcher in Spain in 1966, when his Piratas di Madrid won the title. The team also won the 1967 European Cup and Spanish title. He moved to El Corte Inglés in 1969 then Condepols Madrid from 1971-1980, winning six more titles. He again played for Spain in the 1971 European Championship. He became a coach after his playing career. He later was enshrined in the Spanish Baseball Hall of Fame.
